The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round 16 continues on Monday with hosts Ivory Coast taking on Senegal in one of the most anticipated games of the round.
TopbetsKE picks the top five betting fixtures you can place your money on plus extra two tips for our readers.

Senegal v Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast will be hoping that they can give their home fans something to smile about after making to the round by the skin of their teeth.
The hosts’ stunning 4-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea to round off a miserable group stage somehow failed to send them home, because a disastrous showing from rivals Ghana helped them qualify as the fourth-ranked third-placed team.
The draw has given them little in the way of a reprieve however as defending champions Senegal bring their 100 per cent record at this AFCON to their showdown in Yamoussoukro. Confident victories over Gambia, Cameroon, and Guinea have marked them out as the favorites to retain their crown.
Team News
The hosts will be without sacked coach Jean-Louis Gasset for this match with a bid to parachute in two-time Cup of Nations winner Herve Renard rebuffed by his bosses at the France women’s national team.
It will be a mystery how the Ivorians’ new manager sets up the team but there will be changes. Sebastien Haller is still yet to play at this AFCON due to an ankle injury but Simon Adingra featured off the bench last time out.
A thigh injury will keep Senegal forward Abdallah Sima out for the rest of AFCON, plus a further two or three months. Lamine Camara should return to the midfield after being rested for the win over Guinea.
H2H
The Ivorians have not won any of the last three meetings with Senegal.
Senegal wins: 8
Ivory Coast wins: 14
Draws: 3

Cape Verde v Mauritania
Cape Verde and Mauritania collide at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in the Last 16 of AFCON on Monday. Can Cape Verde live up to their tag as favorites when they meet Mauritania in the knockout phase of the tournament after leading a group that had Ghana and Egypt.
The Islanders have been one of AFCON’s biggest surprise packages so far and their run to top spot in Group B. With momentum on their side, they should have too much firepower for the Mauritanians.
Mauritania qualified for AFCON’s knockout stage though the back door after a 1-0 win in their do-or-die meeting with Algeria. They enjoyed success using a 4-1-4-1 formation against the Algerians and the same system could be deployed on Monday. They pulled off one of the big group-stage shocks and will feel confident after progressing against all odds.
Team News
Cape Verde made several changes to their XI on matchday three in Group B and somehow still came away with a 2-2 draw from a tough test against a full-strength Egyptian side. Manager Pedro Leitao Brito is expected to draft his big guns back in for Monday’s clash, however.
Mauritania on the other end is expected to maintain the team that beat Algeria in their last time out in the tournament.
