Betting Tips
It will be the turn of Mali, Ivory Coast, Cape Verde and South Africa to face off for a chance in the semi finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mali will be playing hosts Ivory Coast who eliminated defending Champions from the tournament with surprising package Cape Verde having a tricky test against South Africa. But TopbetsKE picks the top five betting fixtures you can place your money on plus an extra two tips for our readers.
Mali v Ivory Coast
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations hosts Ivory Coast will be up against Mali in the quarterfinals of the competition. After a 4-0 defeat to end their group stage left them staring down the barrel of a humiliating exit, the Ivorians sacked their manager before results fell in their favour to seal qualification. They then pulled off a stunning victory over Senegal in the last-16 after a late penalty and victory in the shootout.
But the hosts are up against an incredibly tough Mali team. The Eagles have conceded just two goals all tournament and confidently dispatched a strong Burkina Faso team last time out to give them genuine hope of landing their first Cup of Nations crown.
Team News
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma sat out their last-16 match following reports of an injury in training. There was also concern for Amadou Haidara when he departed the game after receiving treatment.
Ivory Coast welcomed Sebastien Haller back from injury when he appeared as a late substitute against Senegal, and he may be in line to make his first start of the tournament. Ibrahim Sangare picked up a knock from a heavy Sadio Mane challenge early on while centre-back Ousmane Diomande did not feature in the squad.
Verdict
This is a really tough one to call, as both teams have momentum and talent but home support will be key again in pushing Ivory Coast over the line.
Tip: Ivory Coast win✅

Cape Verde v South Africa
The fourth-smallest country in Africa (by population) Cape Verde, is the tournament’s biggest surprise. They remain unbeaten in the competition despite playing bigger teams like Ghana and Egypt. Their football has been attractive and with nothing to lose, they will again go all out against South Africa who eliminated Morocco in the last round.
On the other hand, South Africa haven’t been great as they failed to even qualify for AFCON last time and also failed to qualify for the World Cup on the previous three occasions. In this AFCON, they were solid in Group E with Mali, Namibia, and Tunisia, finishing 2nd. In the 1/8 Finals, South Africa met Morocco, and even though Morocco was a lot better, South Africa somehow ensured the win and secured the next stage of the competition.
Both teams have met five times with each winning two games while the other ending in a draw and if form is anything to go by, then Cape Verde should be carrying the day. But South Africa has proved too that they can score goals by playing beautifully so we expect goals.
