Tunisia are looking to win their second Africa Cup of Nations crown as they kick off the tournament on Tuesday against Namibia in Ivory Coast.
The Eagles of Carthage enjoyed a win over France in a relatively strong World Cup showing but have often struggled for consistency.

Tunisia scrambled out of their group in the last AFCON as a third-placed runner-up before defeating Nigeria in the last-16, only to then get knocked out by Burkina Faso.
They are up against a Namibia side preparing for only their fourth run at the Cup of Nations. Managed by former Hamburg defender Collin Benjamin, the Brave Warriors have made themselves a tough team to beat and held Ghana to a draw to warm up in their pre-tournament friendly.
Team News
Tunisia are without Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri for AFCON after the young midfielder opted to focus on his club career this month, and is on the verge of joining Sevilla on loan. Sheffield United’s Anis Ben Slimane will provide plenty of strength in the engine room with experienced duo Naim Sliti and captain Youssef Msakni trusted to fire up their attack.
Namibia’s squad is almost entirely made up of African-based players with Derby defender Ryan Nyambe joining others who play their club football in Kosovo and Malaysia.
Verdict
This should be a fairly straightforward opening match for Tunisia but it may not go entirely their way.
Tip: Tunisia 1-0 Namibia ❌/ Under 2.5✅

Mali v South Africa
A strong Mali squad will hope to make a statement to kick off their Africa Cup of Nations campaign against South Africa. With a host of top talent which plies its trade in Europe’s biggest leagues, Les Aigles certainly have the ability to reach at least the last eight of AFCON for the first time in a decade.
South Africa are back having failed to qualify for two of the last three tournaments. And they may find it tough getting out of a Group E which features experienced campaigners Tunisia and a wildcard Namibia team.
Team News
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma will be key to Mali’s set-up in Ivory Coast while Kamory Doumbia is hoping to breakout at the tournament after five goals in just nine caps for his country. But injuries have taken their toll with Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace, Almeria striker Ibrahima Kone, Moussa Djenepo and Massadio Haidara unavailable.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos hopes to have captain Ronwen Williams fit to keep goal despite a knee complaint. Themba Zwane (knee) and Mothobi Mvala (groin) are also doubts. The vast majority of the South African team is made up of domestic-based players and does not feature Burnley striker Lyle Foster, who declined to play at AFCON for mental health reasons.
Tip: Mali 3-1 South Africa/Mali win✅
