When Etienne Ndayiragije was handed the reins of the team in November 2024, Police were in the relegation zone with Salim Babu but the Burundian has done the unthinkable by handing the law enforcers their first league title. But apart from the title win, the season had a lot of talking points and we take a look at the incidents.

Bidco United and Murang’a Seal survive relegation

Many had bookmarked Bidco United to go down first as they arrived on the final day, placed bottom of the league.

The Anthony Akhulia side has been dismal this season, and things were going south for them in their final game when Sofapaka took the lead, but that worry was soon turned into smiles when they were to scored two goals to pick maximum points; a result that saw them keep their top-flight status for another season.

Apart from Bidco, Murang’a Seals also survived by winning the most important game in the season for them. Seal had hosted Talanta, who were relegation threatened too and needed nothing but a win to stay afloat. They did just that to relegate their final day opponent,s who just as them, have struggled this season.

Shummah wins the Golden Boot

While Kakamega Homeboyz will be celebrating a third-place finish, they will walk home with an accolade after their striker, Moses Shummah, emerged as the best scorer of the season.

The Harambee Stars forward had 17 goals in the campaign, with most of his goals scored in the second leg when his competitor Ryan Ogam of Tusker FC had suffered an injury after a long period of goal drought.

Ogam was to finish the season with 15 goals, one less than FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro, who came second with 16 goals; the player was expected to leave Talanta now that they will be playing the nation’s second tier.

Job Ochieng lifts the Golden Glove Crown

Job Ochieng has finally come of age. After fighting for a starting slot at both Mathare United and Kenya Police FC, the former Kakamega High School shot stopper is the best goalkeeper this season.

Ochieng was thrust to the firing line after the Police parted ways with goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, who has since been locked out of playing due to match fixing allegations. Ochieng finished the season with 13 clean sheets, one better than Kariobangi Sharks’ Sebastian Wekesa, who had a good season too.
