Football Prediction

AFC Bournemouth will be looking to put their heavy loss to Liverpool behind them when they host Championship side Swansea in the FA Cup on Thursday.

The Cherries lost 4-0 at home yet arguably had the better chances in the first half where they missed far too many opportunities. They were made to pay after the break when an impressive Liverpool swept them aside. They now have two Thursday night games in succession starting with the Welsh side in the FA Cup before they play West Ham away next week.

Swansea are in a disappointing 16th place in the second tier and they already look set for a bit of a meh season – they are ten points behind a play-off spot and nine points clear of relegation and this might be a test they are not interested in as they work in staying afloat in the Championship.

H2H / Stats

Recent Meetings;

29/8/23: Swansea 2-3 Bournemouth

26/4/22: Swansea City 3-3 AFC Bournemouth

6/11/21: AFC Bournemouth 4-0 Swansea City

16/3/21: AFC Bournemouth 3-0 Swansea

8/12/20: Swansea City 0-0 AFC Bournemouth

Team News

Hosts Bournemouth are still without Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo as they are in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. Due to injuries, the players who missed the previous games should remain sidelined: Tyler Adams, Ryan Fredericks, Milos Kerkez, Adam Smith, and backup goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

For Swansea, Jamal Lowe suffered an injury in the previous game vs Southampton and had to leave the field after 65 minutes. He will miss the game, but he wouldn’t play in this match anyway since he is on a loan deal from Bournemouth.

Due to injuries, the players who missed the previous games will most likely remain sidelined: Azeem Abdulai, Josh Ginnelly, Josh Key, and Liam Walsh.

Probable Line-Up

AFC Bournemouth XI: Travers (GK), Aarons, Mepham, Kelly, Tavernier, A. Scott, Billing, Cook, Brooks, Moore, Sinisterra

Swansea XI: Rushworth (GK), Darling, Wood, Humphreys, Tymon, Ashby, Grimes, Fulton, Paterson, Yates, Cullen

Verdict

Bournemouth has scored two or more goals in eight of the last ten games and this is another tie where we expect goals. Apart from the blip against Liverpool, the Premier League side looks miles ahead of their Thursday visitors and should this out comfortably.
