Barcelona vs Granada Preview

Spanish giants Barcelona will be hosting Granada at the Nou Camp on Monday night in LaLiga matchday 5. The Catalans are unbeaten so far in the LaLiga having secured two wins and a single draw, leaving them seventh on the log with seven points.

Ronald Koeman’s men started their Champions League journey poorly as they suffered a 3-0 loss to Germany machines Bayern Munich in the first game of the group stage.

Granada have only secured two points so far, losing twice while settling for two draws in the process. They have lost their last two consecutive matches to Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis.

Match facts

  • Barcelona are unbeaten in 34 of their last 38 LaLiga matches.
  • Granada have failed to win their last 9 LaLiga matches.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Barcelona’s last 6 LaLiga home games.
  • The visitors have only kept a single clean sheet so far this season in the LaLiga.
  • The Catalans have failed to keep any clean sheet in their first three opening matches in the LaLiga.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals produced by the two teams in their last three meetings in all competitions.
  • Barcelona have conceded four goals while scoring seven so far this season in the LaLiga.
  • Granada have managed to score just two goals while conceding seven in the process.

Head to head

In the last five meetings between the two sides, Granada have managed to beat Barcelona twice while losing the other three matches.

This year, the pair have met three times, twice in the LaLiga and once in the Copa del Rey. Barcelona secured a 4-0 victory in the first leg while losing the reverse fixture to Granada by a 2-1 scoreline. In the Copa del Rey, Ronald Koeman’s men beat Granada 5-3 in a match that went on extra time.

Barcelona Team News

The hosts have lots of injury concerns with the likes of Jordi Alba and Pedri set to be on the sidelines after suffering setbacks in their loss to Bayern Munich in the midweek.

Braithwaite has also been ruled out, but concerningly, for a long period due to requiring surgery.

Youngster Ansu Fati is closing in on a return from injury and could be available for selection on Monday.

Granada Team News

Nayder Lozano is the only player who will miss the away trip with a fractured tibia that will see him on the sidelines for a lengthy period.

Barcelona vs Granada prediction

The Catalans had a midweek to forget as they were hammered by Bayern Munich 3-0 without any response. We expect Barcelona to struggle in this match but will be desperate to return to winning ways when they face Granada who are also not doing well this season.
