City won’t have an easy ride this season in their quest to bring the European crown to England as they have been paired against some of the best teams in the new format. After the Inter game, the Pep Guardiola side has a favourable run of games against Slovan Bratislav, Sparta Praha, Sporting CP and Feyenoord.

Inter come into this game following a disappointing draw against Monza but they are a team one can’t write off owing to the experience they have in this competition. They would want to avenge that loss to City last year but they know that winning at the Etihad won’t be an easy ride.

City has no fresh injuries heading into this game. Their only worry would have been lead striker Erling Haaland who was afforded compassionate leave following the death of a family friend but he featured against Brentford meaning he will be available for the game. Only Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake are injured.

For Inter, Davide Frattesi and Stefan de Vrij both returned from injury against Monza on Sunday so they will be available for selection. Nicolo Barella was back on the bench so could get the nod to face City, but Tajon Buchanan remains out.
