Daily Tips
Netherlands will take on hosts Qatar on Tuesday in the last game of the FIFA World Cup Group A clash. It is all but decided for Qatar after the hosting nation was kicked out of the tournament after losing back to back matches.
It is a dead rubber clash for Qatar but Netherlands want to confirm its slot in the knockout stages of the ongoing tournament. South Africa were the only hosts to exit at the group stage previously but they won our admiration for giving it a go in 2010. Qatar waited until they were trailing 2-0 before doing so here.
They got a goal back – their first ever at a World Cup – but it’s a second successive defeat for the Qataris and Holland’s 1-1 draw with Ecuador in the later game confirmed their elimination.
Qatar might have done better against Senegal despite losing but their performance isn’t anywhere near the Netherlands at all.
We are backing Netherlands to claim their second victory this tournament while Qatar to finish their campaign without any win.
