Everton vs. Manchester United Match preview

Everton welcome Manchester United at Goodison Park in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night eyeing a semi-final spot.

The Toffees come into the match off the back of three successive wins, the previous one being a 2-1 win over Arsenal. On the other hand, Man United won 6-2 over their old rivals Leeds United.

Manchester United have changed the view of football incredibly quickly, Solskjaer’s job was sitting on edge following their exit from the Champions League group stages only to be rescued by his soldiers bringing the club back to track.

Match Facts

  • Everton has registered four wins, drawn twice, and lost four times in their last ten EPL matches this season.

Everton vs. Manchester United Head to Head

The last time the Toffees won against the visitors was back in 2019 in Premier League, the match that ended 4-0 as the host. In the previous encounter, the Red Devils won 3-1 away to Everton.

Everton Team News

Diego Llorente is nursing muscle injury and is expected to be back in late December, Robin Kosh received a knock injury and is likely to return in mid-January.

Adam Forshaw is in the treatment room with a hip injury and is likely to miss this clash.

Manchester United Team News

Scott McTominay suffered a groin injury in a 6-2 win against Leeds United, a match that he scored a brace in the shortest time possible, while Luke Shaw is also a doubt following his withdrawal against the same clash.

Solskjaer is expected to rotate his squad, with players like Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani, Donny van de Beek, and Paul Pogba all pushing for a spot in the starting XI.

Juan Mata was impressive in the last round against Brighton and so will be likely selected for another start. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson could also be handed a start.

Eric Bailly, Nemanja Matic, and Mason Greenwood are among the other players pushing for starts, but Marcus Rashford will also be hoping to retain his place after scoring five goals in his six away league games this season.

Everton vs. Manchester United Prediction

This is a convincingly difficult match to call between two in-form teams who are likely to rotate their starting XI, and both teams are aiming to progress to the semi-finals.

It is a match that is likely to go either way, but given that rotation of the squad is likely and that Man United possesses greater strength in depth than the hosts, we see United as the favorites.

Our topbets pundit is predicting away win and Betway is backing the results with 2.11 odds while 1XBet is giving 2.13 Odds.

Goals – Over 2.5
