Football Predictions
All eyes in the UEFA Europa League this Thursday will be at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan when Sevilla host Manchester United in the second leg of the quarter-final tie.
Both teams battled to a 2-2 draw in the first leg hosted at Old Trafford a week ago with the hosts losing a two-goal lead before two own goals from Tyler Malacia and Harry Maguire ensured that the tie is even heading into the second leg.
Having beaten three Laliga opposition in the competition this season in Real Sociedad, Real Betis, and Barcelona, Ten Hag will be hoping to be fourth time lucky to sail through the semifinals of the competition where Sporting Lisbon or Juventus awaits.
H2H / Stats
The teams have met four times previously with the Spanish side emerging winners in two of the ties. (Man United wins: 0, Draws: 2, Sevilla wins: 2)
Previous Meetings
21 Feb 2018: Sevilla 0-0 Manchester United
13 Mar 2018: Manchester United 1-2 Sevilla
16 Aug 2020: Sevilla 2-1 Manchester United
13 April 2023: Man United 2-2 Sevilla
Team news
United arrive in the same with a lot of disadvantages on the injury front with Marcel Sabitzer, who scored a brace in the reverse tie, being the latest player to join the treatment table. The injury comes just days after Tyrell Malacia also missed the club’s 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are definitely out of this match, while the yellow card Bruno Fernandes picked up at Old Trafford rules him out of the tie. Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, and Luke Shaw have all missed games through injury in recent weeks, while Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek are longer-term conFor the Sevilla, Jose Luis Mendilibar made eight changes to his side for Sunday’s 2-0 win over Valencia, although two of these were enforced as Marcos Acuna and Pape Gueye were serving suspensions as is Tecatito Corona. Gonzalo Montiel will be suspended for this game, but midfielder Joan Jordan returned to the side on Sunday after missing the first leg. United loanee Alex Telles did not feature in the Valencia game due to suspension but could be involved on Thursday.
Probable Line-Up
Sevilla: Bounou; Navas, Badé, Marcao, Acuña; Fernando, Rakitić, Gudelj; Ocampos, En-Nesyri, Suso
Man United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; Casemiro, Fred; Antony, Eriksen, Sancho; Martial
Verdict
The game will be a close call between the two sides owing to Sevilla’s history in the competition and Man United’s injury woes heading into the game. The visitors will be hoping that they can welcome some of their senior players in the tie if they are to stand a chance and pray that the center back partnership of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire can bear fruits in Spain.
The home crowd should push Sevilla to get a result against the English giants but they should be wary of the quality of the United side should they just attack without plan.
Verdict: Over 2.5

Youssef En-Nesyri
The Moroccan World Cup hero is the danger man for Sevilla and has scored 34 La Liga goals in 59 starts for them. He should be a handful for the United defence that is expected to be changed owing to injuries.
Anthony
With Marcus Rashford set to miss the tie, the onus will be on the Brazilian to deliver the goods when needed. The winger has had a knack of giving brilliant performances in the Europa League this season and will once be depended upon when United is on attack.
Anthony Martial
The Frenchman might feel he needs to punish Sevilla after their fans voted him as their worst January signing last year when he was with them briefly. He is just returning from injury and has been leading United’s attack where he has shown a glimpse of his potential in linking up play. He is expected to lead the line again for the Ten Hag side and should be a handful for the home side now that he has a clue about the ground and how they run their business.
