Manchester United Women v PSG
Manchester United Women will take part in the UEFA Women’s Champions League competition for the very first time, following last season’s second-placed finish in the Women’s Super League.
United Women were drawn against PSG in one of 12 two-legged knockout ties, with the winners joining reigning champions Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Lyon in the groups.
United roped in France international Melvine Malard on a season-long loan. The 23-year-old forward joined from Lyon, where she won four Women’s Champions Leagues and two Division 1 titles and the club will hope that her experience in France will lift them past Tuesday opponents. United also brought in the midfielder Irene Guerrero, defender Gabby George and goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce on transfer deadline day.
Paris Women v Wolfsburg Women
Paris FC Women are in top form, having won their last five matches across all competitions. Two of these five wins came in the Women’s Champions League when they thrashed Kryvbas 4-0 and beat Arsenal on penalties in the qualification stages. In Division 1 Feminine, they occupy the 1st position with 9 points after three wins from three games.
Wolfsburg Women are also in superb form, following five wins on a bounce. They reached the Women’s Champions League final last season and lost 3-2 to Barcelona Women. They have started their season on a high and are currently occupying the top spot in the Frauen-Bundesliga with 9 points after three matches.
